Washington Balalaika Society presents "International Favorites"


Saturday, June 3 at 8pm
The Washington Balalaika Society is celebrating its 35th season with a concert of International Favorites, featuring Soprano Olga Orlovskaya and Andrei Saveliev on the balalaika. WBS Artistic Director Svetlana Nikonova will conduct.
Repertoire will include Schubert’s Serenade, DvoĆák’s Slavonic Dance, Bizet’s Habanera from “Carmen,” and Massenet’s haunting Thais Meditation. The audience will travel from Austria, the Czech Republic, Latvia, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and of course, America!
The Washington Balalaika Society is a community orchestra of musicians who perform the music of Eastern Europe, Ukraine, Russia, on traditional folk instruments. It is the largest orchestra of its kind in America, and has been performing in the Greater Washington, D.C. area and beyond for 35 years!
